How we find and verify

Every business we show you has been read from its own website, and we show the date we read it. This page explains where our information comes from, the rules a business must pass to reach your list, and what we never do.

Where it comes from

Web search
Licensed search services find the businesses that could buy what you sell, using the words those businesses use to describe themselves.
Their own websites
Our crawler, KWIKLBot, reads each business's pages. It identifies itself, follows robots.txt and limits how often it requests pages, so it never slows a site down.
What they publish for enquiries
Contact addresses, phone numbers and forms, taken only from the business's own pages.

The rules a business must pass

If a business fails any of these, it doesn't reach your list.

  1. It is a single business. Directories, marketplaces, job boards, news sites and review sites are excluded.
  2. It is the kind of business you sell to. Its own page must say so. We quote the exact words.
  3. It isn't a competitor of yours, and it isn't a large national chain that buys centrally.
  4. Its words are on the page. Every quote is checked against the page we read. If the words aren't there, the quote is dropped.
  5. It hasn't asked to be left out. Businesses that ask us to remove them never appear again.

How we decide what's worth your time

Fit
How clearly its own words show it is the kind of business you sell to, and where.
Why now
A recent change on its site: hiring, a new location, a new service or recent news. A dated signal older than four months doesn't count.
Reachable
Whether it publishes a way to contact it: an enquiry address, a phone number or a form.
Worth fixing
For web, marketing and software sellers: a real problem on its website that you could solve.

What we never do

  • Buy contact lists or sell yours.
  • Guess or build email addresses from a pattern.
  • Use a person's private email or social profile.
  • Read pages a website asks crawlers not to read.
  • Show you a business we haven't read.

Human review

Every Mission is read by a person on our team before we email it to you. If something looks wrong, we fix it or leave it out.

Search results are kept for thirty days and then deleted. A removal request through our form takes effect immediately; requests by email are handled within 48 hours.
